DON'T WAIT TOO LONG

"Tell me, why did you take her straightaway to Pusat Islam for conversion? Why not wait a more few days?"asked Puan Nor to Dr Kabilan, who had helped in my reversion to Islam..
I sat on the chair in Pn.Nor's office.
The two good friends, both my lecturers, smiled at each other.
"Once a person is ready to recite the syahadah, we as Muslims should not wait any longer. The longer we wait, the greater will syaitan cast doubts in the hearts of these mualaf, so that they'd change their minds to become Muslims. So once they state confidently that they want to be Muslims, we should do our best and as quickly as possible to assist in getting them officially declared as Muslims," explained Dr Kabilan.
"Really?"
"Yes, it has happened before. Some have waited too long and failed to become Muslims."

In this eve of Awal Muharram, I call upon Muslim brothers and sisters to assist anyone whom you know intend to become Muslims in any way you can. If they need help to ucap the 2-kalimah syahadah, accompany them to the nearest Jabatan Agama Islam, the local imam or the various Islamic NGOs which can do the official documentation. If they need guidance about Islam, teach them. If they need shelter, bring them to the nearest shelter for reverts run by NGOs. If they need money, find them jobs or refer them to the Islam NGOs for advice.

For those who intend to revert to Islam but are hesitating for various reasons, don't wait too long. Remember that the longer you postpone, the greater is the temptation not to proceed. Doubts will be cast upon your mind and weaken your intention. Not everyone is a fortunate as I did, who was given a second chance to be a Muslimah - 10 years later.

Alhamdulillah Allah swt guided me to this video clip. My "suara hati" instinct tells me this is a special one for somebody. I had planned this entry for tomorrow but with this nasyeed keeps playing in my head, I guess somebody out there is in need of it today :)

Sorry if my translation is poor :P

Suara ku dengar menyeru kepadaNya,
Suara bergema memuji kebesaranNya,
Suara memujuk kita mendekatiNya,
Suara hidayah mengajak mentaatiNya..

Itulah suara yang ku rindui,
Itulah suara yang ku nantikan,
Itulah suara membawa kebenaran,
Itulah suara datangnya dari Tuhan..

Sambut ia, terimalah, bila datang,
Pada kita, kerna ia, hanya datang,
Pada hamba, yang terpilih,
Tidak akan, kau temui,
Untuk kali, keduanya, takkan dapat,
Engkau cari, bila ia, telah pergi..

Syukurilah dan amalkan,
Sampaikanlah pada siapa pun,
Perjuangan dalam hidupmu,
Moga rahmat Allah bersamamu..

Suara Hidayah(the voice of guidance in my heart)

The voice I heard calls me to Him
The resounding voice praises His greatness
The voice persuades us to Him
The voice of hidayah invites us to obey Him

That's the voice I long to hear
That's the voice I've been waiting for
That's the voice that brings the truth
That's the voice that comes from God

Receive it, accept it,
when it comes to us,
because it only comes
to the chosen ones
You'll never find it
for the second time, will not get
although you seek it, when it is gone..

Be thankful and practise it
Pass it to anyone
Be it the mission of your life
May Allah's blessings be with you.

May the hidayah remains in our hearts and soul.
May Allah's blessings and guidance be with you, me and everyone.

  1. Dear Sis,
I beg to be differ in this case. In my opinion, ones should takes time to learn and understand the true teaching of Islam.

I had a bad experience regarding this matter. There was one of our friend , who after a while decided to convert. Even after we had another mualaf to "interview" him and adv him the good and the risk of being a mualaf.

He still wants to convert which is to our relief and happily took him to the Pejabat Agama. A few years had past and he tried to avoid us . The last news we knew that he had married a non Muslim girl and did practice Islamic teaching anymore . He even run back to his hometown in Sarawak in order to avoid us...

  3. assalamualaikum..

in my opinion it's all about hidayah. in my case, Allah gave me only about 3 months to admit the truth of Islam. based on my experience, it's really depends on my heart. no matter friends around me give a lot of support i not say the 2 kalimah syahadah before my heart say yes this is the truth.it's not easy to make choice between Islam and Christian since both have similarity in teaching (agama samawi).

huhu learn to write in english in sis aliya's blog. no problem in understanding but quite bad in grammar.

  4. Assalamualaikum Iqqhuan,
I think you've confused between hidayah and iman. Hidayah comes from Allah swt and when we have it, we want to be closer to Him, to be Muslims.. or we reject it and remain as we are. I'm sure many reverts have taken time to learn about Islam before they declare their intention. Didn't you?
Iman, on the other hand, has go up and down. We need to nourish our iman with solat, reading al-Quran and being with other mukmin. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sure he was sincere when he wanted to revert. However we don't know what happened to him after the time he became a Muslim and until he "murtad". Perhaps he was disappointed with the treatment from other Muslims or h never got enough guidance about Islam as he should? Not all mualaf are strong in iman although they get hidayah. That's why we need many Islamic NGOs to help them. We can only pray that your friend will return to the fold of Islam, insyaAllah.

  5. Waalaikumussalam Sakinah,
It takes time and courage to declare one's intention to be a Muslim, doesn't it? And we study, compare, debate, discuss, etc..The truth will prevail.
Well, your English is fine to me. Practice makes perfect, hehehe..

  6. ya, like me i search in internet, buy books and Quran. From reading about mualaf I found that almost of us actually learn islam to find the weakness in its teaching in order to debate with the muslims but instead we find the truth. hmm for me most of the time we seek the truth on our own effort because only ourselves know what we want and when our heart open for it. actually it's really hard for me to make the choice but it's so annoying when the first question people ask when know i revert to Islam is "do u want to marry a malay man?" " u have a malay boyfriend?" huh i really dont like the question.

  7. Ahh, the usual annoying question each time somebody finds out we revert to Islam. As if we can't decide to be Muslims without having a Malay gf/bf. I got so fedup I used to reply," Well, a rich Arab want to marry me!"( I did have an Arab e-pal) hahahaa..that shut them up.

  8. Salam..
    Sekadar ingin meluahkan pandangan. =)

"Apakah manusia itu mengira bahawa mereka dibiarkan saja mengatakan; "Kami telah beriman," ("I am full of faith to Allah" sedangkan mereka tidak diuji?

    Waallahu'alam..

  9. Assalamualaikum wbt

Menguji tu kerja Allah, bukan kerja manusia. Kita ni bukan Tuhan. Apa yang Rasulullah saw buat bila orang nak peluk Islam?
